- Plant a tree. If every family in America planted just 1 tree, the CO2 emissions would be cut down by 5%! This doesn't seem much, but it can make a big impact.
- Save electricity. You can do this by turning off lights and other electrical items when you don't need them. An increasing number of people are now fitting solar panels and these are a great way of renewable energy and it is better for the environment.
- Cut down pollution levels. Pollution is a massive cause of melting the icebergs and it is caused by harmful gases destroying the ozone layer and this makes the greenhouse effect. If we all cut down our pollution levels by 50%, the ozone layer would be able to reseal itself. Saving electricity can help stop pollution. Also, another good way is walk or take your bike on small journeys that you don't need a car for.
- Don't go on a plane too often. Flying gives out so much CO2, especially the long-hauled flights to Australia from the UK. Did you know that 1 long-hauled flight gives out the same amount of CO2 as 18 months worth of motoring in a standard car? Also, many fossil fuels would be saved if we all cut down our number of flights.
- Get a more economical car. By getting a more fuel efficient car, you can cut your CO2 emissions by up to a third. There is less fossil fuel emissions which means ultimately it will last longer. And you save money too.
